Do you have a support system?

I had a hard time figuring out what topic I was going to cover first.  I started thinking about what makes me “successful”. How am I able to make the important moves I need to make in order to grow at the rate I want to.  Without support nothing moves and even if it does move it cannot be sustained for long periods of time. Without support we all burn out or give up.

I have been blessed to have a lot of support from my family and friends. And I am not talking about financial support, I am talking about the mental and emotionally support that most of us mothers (especially single mothers) lack on a consistent basis. We already have so much on our plates taking care of our families the home and still making sure you have time for yourself.

This is one of the main reasons... well let's be honest this IS there reason I started this blog and the Facebook group “The Entrepreneur Mindset for Single Moms” I was looking for some support on Facebook in the form of a group and I could not find one! That doesn’t mean they are not out there, but none came up in my search on Facebook or on google.

There are a few things you should look for when you are trying to find the best support for you. Understand that some people in your life right now are not valuable support systems for where you want to go in your life. These people must be identified, and you are going to have to find a new space for them in your life.

Support must be:

Genuine

Motivating

Helpful

Support shouldn’t be

Manipulative

Used as a bartering tool

Exhausting

Take a few minutes to make a list of people in your life that you think are your support system. The next time you talk to them either in person or not and make a note of how they make you feel after your interaction. If you feel light, full, and motivated KEEP THEM! If you feel discouraged or defeated realize that this person may be helpful in other ways and you need to shift them to another space in your life and try again. Finding your support is not easy and it is going to require some work on your part. It will be like putting together a puzzle. Find the piece and its place, not every piece will fit where you think it does at first but once you get a better picture of yourself and your path those pieces will fit in just right!
